Ways to leave the airport

  • Taxi counter (easiest)

    About 150–250 THB to the city

    • The counter is in the arrivals hall. Tell them your hotel and pay the fixed fare shown before you go.
    • Larger cars and vans are available for families and groups.

  • Grab

    Often 100–200 THB to the city

    • Grab works at the airport. You see the price before you book and pay by card or cash.
    • Late at night there are fewer drivers, so the taxi counter can be quicker.

  • Shuttle van to Nong Khai

    About 150–200 THB per person

    • Shared vans to Nong Khai and the Friendship Bridge leave after flights arrive. Buy tickets at the counter in arrivals.
    • Handy if you go straight to the Mekong or on to Laos.

  • Airport bus to Vientiane (Laos)

    80 THB

    • Since 9 Sep 2026 a daily Transport Co. (BKS) bus stops at the airport at 09:30 on its way to Vientiane.
    • Coming back, it stops at the airport at 16:30 and ends at Udon Thani Bus Terminal 1. Bring your passport.

  • Car rental

    • International and Thai rental companies have desks in arrivals. Book ahead for Expo weekends and holidays.
    • A car is the easiest way to see the Red Lotus Sea at sunrise. Driving is on the left; bring an International Driving Permit.

  • Hotel pickup

    • Many Udon hotels pick up from the airport, sometimes for free. Ask when you book and send your flight number.
